The Roystone Grange Trail explores the history of this remote valley, rich in archaeological evidence from both the Roman and medieval times. The trail is about 4 miles long and follows in part the High Peak Trail . It takes a couple of hours of easy walking.
The trail begins at Minninglow car park half a mile south of Pikehall on the A5012 Cromford to Newhaven road. It passes Minninglow Hill which is steeped in history, its summit circled by ancient beech trees. This is the site of Minninglow Tomb, thought to date back to the Neolithic people of the area.
